Habits I’m Building To Grow In Faith

Over this summer I have reminded myself of the importance of carving out time every day to sit in quiet reflection with God. I have found myself feeling burnt out with the pressures and busyness of everyday life, rushing around and trying to fit everything in. This meant that I fell out of routine and struggled to find time to rest in God’s presence, share my burdens and joys with Him and trust that He has everything in His hands. I have been working on changing this and want to share some of my new habits and ways in which I’m growing closer to God.

Daily Bible Reading

The most impactful habit that I have developed is doing the Daily Refresh Guided Scripture every morning in the Bible App. This has been life changing and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to start their day in God’s word but feels a bit overwhelmed with where to start. The Daily Refresh focuses on a different verse everyday and invites different organisations to record a video and write a devotional for each verse. I look forward to this every morning and find that I can step into my day, whether at work or on a weekend, and feel prepared to be a disciple of Jesus. It’s a fantastic opportunity for me to spend time in quiet prayer and get to know our Lord more. I love having this opportunity to pray for the day ahead, my friends and family, and for my own guidance and courage. If you’re interested in doing the Daily Refresh Guided Scripture too, you can download The Bible App here.

Worship Music

Another thing that I have started to do is actively look for worship music that I can play whilst I’m working, or play in my car on the very rare occasion that I’m behind the wheel. Working from home means that I can be my own DJ and having worship music on in the background helps to remind me that God is always with me, even during the most mundane tasks. Some songs I’ve been enjoying lately are ‘Yes He Can’ by Cain, ‘That’s Who I Praise’ by Brandon Lake and ‘Misunderstood’ by Forrest Frank. If you have any recommendations I’d love to hear them!

Future Aims

I thought I would end with something that I would like to do more of, that is to build more time into my day to work on my Grace & Greene designs and blog posts. I really want to use my art and have struggled to fit it all in throughout the summer. I want to change this and prioritise my creative work. To help hold me accountable, and just simply because I love Christmas, I have booked a couple of Christmas market stalls for this November 2025 (details here). I’m excited to work on some Christmas designs that help to share the Good News of Jesus. With that being said, I’m off to get drawing!
